A person needs enough iron in one’s body to synthesize the new red blood cells which in turn absorb the oxygen molecules and make the molecules of oxyhemoglobin and oxyhemoglobin distributes the oxygen to the different systems and organs of the body.

Hb+ O2------->HbO2 (Oxyhemoglobin)

Diagram below shows iron is the site of oxygen binding

One thing is of huge importance here, an anemic person will be deficient in oxygen and henceforth all the vital organs of the body may not be able to get enough oxygen to function at their optimum levels which can give rise  to other disease with the passage of time, so be ready to fix the anemia as soon as possible  to avoid the glut of other diseases in the future.

Some foods like beets, nuts, kale, spinach and French fries have  lots of oxalates which impair the  absorption of iron and  can cause anemia but by taking a lot of water the excess of oxalates and be flushed out.

Oxalate structure, below

Sometimes the intestinal villi in the upper part of the intestine gets impacted by the auto immune disorders like celiac disease, which also prevents the absorption of iron by the intestine so even though if we are taking enough iron rich food everyday but  we still may be anemic that’s why the persons having celiac disease have low most of the times

THE FOLLOWING FOOD ARE A RICH SOURCE OF IRON

MEAT, Pork, Beef, and chicken (rich in heme iron)

LEAFY GREENS: Kale, Spinach, Raisins, Swiss chard, Nuts, Pumpkin seeds,

VITAMIN C HELPS IN THE ABSORPTION OF IRON,

 so, when you are taking iron rich foods and taking  foods rich in vitamin “C” at the same time  will enhance the absorption of iron in the intestine

FOODS RICH IN VIT C:  Oranges, grapes, lemons, limes, bell peppers, broccoli, leafy greens
